How to Preserve Your Diesel Fuel System

Diesel fuel system service at STL Diesel

Since 2006, ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel has helped reduce emissions, but the reduced lubricity can increase wear in high-pressure fuel systems. When a high-pressure pump fails, metal contaminants can spread throughout the fuel system and create thousands of dollars in damage.

At STL Diesel, we can identify early signs of wear or fuel contamination by drawing a small sample from the fuel filters. This allows our technicians to visually inspect the fuel and identify material that may be harmful to the system.

Protecting the fuel system

Our technicians recommend using a quality diesel fuel lubricity additive to replace some of the lubrication lost with ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. The right treatment can help prolong fuel-pump life, reduce wear, and minimize costly contamination.

Concerned that your truck may have contaminated fuel? Contact STL Diesel to schedule a fuel sample and vehicle health check.
